Parenting Coordination Fees (BC)
This is a structured parenting coordination model—not open‑ended services. Most families invest $2,500 per parent in the initial phase to establish the process and begin moving issues forward.
Hourly Rate
Fees are billed at $350 per hour.
Cost Containment
This model is designed to reduce ongoing costs. As structure is established, parents are expected to:
- Communicate directly within defined parameters
- Use the process to resolve issues independently
- Rely less on ongoing intervention over time
Costs typically decrease where the process is followed. For complex issues or where agreement cannot be reached, additional work may be required. A fixed‑process quote is available before any determination.
What You Are Paying For
Included in my time is a structured system applied with over 30 years of experience in high‑conflict family situations. This includes:
- implementing a rules‑based communication and decision‑making process grounded in your court order or agreement
- coaching you to use the process effectively so issues can increasingly be resolved without repeated involvement
- facilitating agreement in high‑conflict situations using practical, interest‑based approaches
- applying a neuroscience‑informed, trauma‑aware framework to reduce escalation; and
- maintaining forward progress, including making limited determinations within my delegated authority where required.
The focus is practical, structured, and implementation‑based.
Retainer Structure
Each parent provides:
$2,500 active retainer - Covers intake, file setup, implementation of the communication and decision‑making process, orientation, and early support.
$2,500 reserve retainer - Held to maintain continuity if there is delay, non‑participation, or non‑payment. This reserve is intended as a safeguard and is refunded at the end of the term if unused.
Why This Model Is Different
Traditional parenting coordination can become expensive where communication is unstructured and issues repeat. This model is designed to:
- Structure communication and decision‑making
- Reduce delay and repetition
- Move issues forward efficiently
- Teach a process you can apply independently
The goal is not ongoing dependence. The goal is a system that reduces conflict, time, and cost—even where one parent struggles to participate effectively.
Role and Limits
My role is limited to implementing existing parenting orders or agreements, as authorized by the appointing order or written agreement.
I remain neutral. Matters requiring enforcement, new orders, or authority beyond the delegated scope must return to court or another appropriate process.
Contract
As a member of the BC Parenting Coordination Roster, I am required to use the Roster’s current standard Participation Agreement, which governs the scope, authority, and limits of the process.
Jurisdiction is Set by the Appointment Order or Agreement
All Parenting Coordination services are delivered under the jurisdiction and limits set by the appointment order or parent-signed agreement. When acting as a PC, I do not provide legal representation or legal advice to either party. Parenting coordination is not mediation, arbitration, counselling, or legal advocacy, and outcomes depend on many factors outside the control of the parenting coordinator.
